EVLA
Endovenous Laser Ablation

What is EVLA and how does it work?

Endovenous Laser Ablation (EVLA)

EVLA is a treatment method used in the removal of varicose veins. It is a minimally invasive laser ablation technique, which allows a rapid recovery time. It is a walk in walk out day treatment using local anaesthetic, this means you can even head back to work the next day. It can take between 1 to 2 hours, depending on the number of veins which require treatment.
So, how does EVLA varicose vein treatment work?
EVLA uses a laser fiber to heat, treat and close the main superficial vein from the inside with laser energy and restore healthy vein flow to the legs. The EVLA treatment is a minimally invasive treatment using pin hole access into the broken veins. A local anaesthetic solution is administered to ensure comfort during this short treatment.
